A grateful couple have helped raise £800 as a thankyou to the air ambulance.
John Westerman, 65, of Yokecliffe Hill, Wirksworth, broke his back falling off a ladder six years ago.
Then, while recovering, he fell off a treadmill at Wirksworth Leisure Centre in January this year, injuring his back again, and had to be rescued by East Midlands Air Ambulance.
Wife Sandra Westerman said: “We were so grateful, we decided to try and give something back.
“We held a table-top sale in the Parish Rooms in Wirksworth and raised £803.56.
“We know all the hospitals round here now.”
Sandra thanked Shirley Turner for organising the sale.
