TWO shields to reward supporters of the Poppy Appeal have been created in Wirksworth.

The town’s branch of the Royal British Legion was left money by late residents John Morley and Stan Spencer.

The money has been put towards creating the shields which will be presented to the business and resident who raise the most money for the annual appeal each year.

Branch vice-chairman Mike Harris said: “The Poppy Appeal in well supported in Wirksworth.

“We hope this will be another incentive for people to collect for us.”
