APPLICATIONS are now being invited for a new role which will play a part in the way crime and disorder is tackled in Derbyshire.
Later this year Police Authorities – which hold forces in England and Wales to account – are being abolished and new Police and Crime Comissioner posts will be established.
Candidates from Derbyshire are already coming forward and elections for the new four-year post will take place on November 15.
A new Police and Crime Panel – made up of councillors and independent members – is also being set up to scrutinise and support the Commissioner’s work.
Derbyshire County Council’s Director of Legal Services John McElvaney said: “This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start with new arrangements for reducing crime and disorder across the county.”
Application packs for the independent panel member roles are available from firstname.lastname@example.org or 01629 538328.
