A YOUNG Wirksworth artist has taken part in a cultural exchange to Saudi Arabia after winning an international competition.
Lizzie Hobbs, 23, won the Offscreen Expeditions contest – a London-based social enterprise and education programme.
A team of ten winners travelled to Saudi Arabia to create an artistic portrait of the Kingdom to be shared with youth audiences from around the world.
The young artists had unprecedented access to one of the most fascinating and inspiring cultures in the world.
The competition attracted more than 500 entries from talented young artists, film-makers, photographers and musicians.
Lizzie Hobbs said: “I am delighted to be part of this wonderful opportunity, to witness Saudi Arabia’s culture first hand and to dig deeper under the surface of this misunderstood country.
“It will be a great learning curve.”
She added: “I look forward to working with others creatively, in breaking down stereotypes and building positive relations, as well as sharing this eye opening experience on return.”
