WI: Amber Valley (Ashover) Women’s Institute met, in the Bassett Rooms began with a minute’s silence being observed.
The members wanted to show their respects for the death of a former member, Lynda Collier. Many members knew her well and she will be greatly missed.
Pat Hall was the guest speaker for the evening. She entertained us with comical poems and observations. Pat is a natural storyteller and comedian and her tales of (almost) true-to-life stories and comments about life had us enthralled and laughing for an hour. I am sure many of her audience will be attempting to retell some of the tales.
Rita Tully gave the vote of thanks and expressed for members all how much they had enjoyed Pat’s anecdotes.
The rest of the evening was taken up with discussion about the arrangements for the golden anniversary celebrations in April.
The next meeting will take place in the Bassett Rooms, Ashover on Thursday 11th April at 7.30.
