A VILLAGE church has donated 29 shoeboxes to help some of the world’s poorest children at Christmas.

Members of All Saints Church in Ashover and St Mark’s in Handley, have taken part in the annual Operation Christmas Child.

The church has also donated £30 in cash.

The shoeboxes were forwarded to the world’s largest childrens Christmas project which sends the boxes to youngsters abroad in hospitals, orphanages, camps, homeless shelters and impoverished neighbourhoods.

“We are most grateful to everyone who supported us again this year. I know the shoeboxes will be very much appreciated”, said Margaret Kirby, who co-ordinated the collection.
