Band steps in to rescue carnival

AMBERGATE Carnival is all ready to dance to the Balkan beat in its 30th year after a local band stepped in at the last minute to save the day.

The event this Saturday, July 9, was left without a band after the original line-up pulled out of the show at the last minute due to illness.

But now a local band has come to the rescue and helped return the carnival atmosphere to Ambergate.

Aistaguca, the UK’s only high-energy Balkan Gypsy band, will be taking to the stage at Ambergate Recreation Ground and entertaining the crowds with their exciting blend of Romanian folk music mixed with contemporary rhythms and melodies.

And as well as performing in the main arena, Aistaguca will be accompanying the carnival procession, which leaves the Riverside Service Station on the A6 in Ambergate at 1.30pm.

Lisa Leach, who is chairman of the Ambergate Carnival Committee, said: “We’re over the moon that we’ve got such a great band playing at this year’s carnival.”
