DARLEY Birth Centre’s fight for survival has been lost after health chiefs said it will be axed.
They said that the centre was too expensive with the number of births there averaging around 100.
Campaigners who had been battling to save it said it was a “huge blow for the community”.
The decision to close was made during a meeting earlier today, with the centre set to shut its door in July next year.
