Curry Hurry: Irfan Shabir, owner of the Maazi restaurant in Matlock, is taking over the Momtaz indian restaurant on Bakewell Road which will become the Maazi takeaway.

A Matlock Indian restaurant is expanding and opening a new takeaway business.

Maazi, of Causeway Lane, has taken over the former Momtaz in Crown Square.

The restaurant’s takeaway and delivery service is set to move to the new premise in the new year and will be called Maazi To Go.

Owner Irfan Shabir said the move would mean the main restaurant could be expanded to serve more diners and offer a function room for parties.

He added: “I think our customers are very pleased as it allows us to improve our service as we will be operating from two premises.

“When we are very busy delivery times go up so it can be difficult to serve a full restaurant and do deliveries at the same time.

“This will mean we can concentrate on both side of the business.”

Maazi To Go is set to open by Valentine’s Day.
