A NEW auto workshop has wheeled its way into Matlock.
Rapid Fit Auto Centre recently opened for business on Bakewell Road, their first in Britain.
The company has garages in Spain, but the owner – who is originally from the region – is branching out into Derbyshire.
The garage, which has opened at the vacant garage building next to the A6 roundabout, opened on Tuesday and will be the first of seven.
Others being planned include garages in Chesterfield, Ripley, Hucknall and Manchester.
Matlock’s will be employing nine people in total, with intentions of recruiting from the community.
Specialising in tyres and servicing, they have the tools and trained staff to carry out any other repair you would expect from a garage, but using the most technically-advanced diagnostics machinery available.
Manager Kyle Harris, new manager for the centre, said: “Matlock is a very important town and it’s fantastic to be here.
“It’s very much an up and coming town, it’s thriving, and we want to be a part of that.”
The company prides itself on its simplistic approach to pricing, with a menu of services.
Kyle continued: “It’s all about seeing what you are getting for what you pay. People are not going to come back to collect their car and find it costs more. Before we touch it, we ring the customer.”
And to affirm their approach to simplicity, the garage is planning to launch classes for young drivers and pensioners, and a separate course for females to learn about changing tyres, checking oil and other basic skills.
