Drinkers can enjoy a range of real ales, wines and freshly ground coffee – at a newly launched venue in Matlock.

Sleek and modern MoCa Bar, in Dale Road, has already proved popular with customers since opening two weeks ago and now the bar is set to offer a new light bites menu.

The premises is run by Paul Mosley, who is also the landlord of the Bell Inn in Cromford, and Paul’s sister-in-law Sharne Castle.

Chartered accountant Sharne, of Cromford, said she had always wanted to run her own business.

She said: “I thought this seemed like a good opportunity and it’s a great spot.

“I’ve had some catering experience in the past and always had an interest in it. I think between us, with Paul real’s ale knowledge, we should make a good go of it.”

She added: “I think Matlock is getting a lot better and there are a lot more independent shops in the town now.”

The bar sells fresh coffee and a wide selection of wine and at the end of the month is set to launch a new menu offering light bites such as soup, sandwiches, cold platters and cheese and biscuits.

However for Paul his passion lies in real ale and over the years has built up a CAMRA following for the Bell Inn, which scooped Pub of the Season in 2010.

He added: “I do a lot with real ales and that is my aim for this place as Dale Road doesn’t really have that yet.

“I used to drink in here and when I noticed it was for let I thought it would be a good opportunity.

“I like Matlock and I think Dale Road especially is improving with new shops set to be built round the back of the Old English. I think things can only get busier.”
