The theme for Saturday’s parade is uniforms and local shops and businesses are joining in with the fun with staff dressing up for the day and shop windows being decorated as part of the event.

Street entertainers will be out and about from midday, including Spitty the Busker, The Bubble Man and stilt walkers as well as Gypsy Jazz who will be playing at the Beehive. There is also a music train leaving Buxton at 12.27pm.

Carnival volunteer Sean Whewell said: “This year’s carnival has something for everyone with many free activities and entertainment for the whole family and we hope to see a great turnout on the day.

Local businesses have been so generous in helping fund this great community event and are key to its ongoing growth and success.”

New Mills band will lead the parade, which begins at 1pm from Market Street and will feature groups including the Loud and Proud Cheerleaders, Urban Gypsies and Stockport Air Cadets 162 squadron.

Once it has wound its way through the town, the parade will head to New Mills recreation ground, by Swizzel’s Matlow, where there will be over 40 stalls and a funfair.
