Businesses across the Derbyshire Dales are being urged to empty their cash registers following recent thefts.

Overnight between 5.30pm on Monday, October 31 and 9am the following morning, thieves gained access to a farm shop off Coggers Lane in Hathersage after climbing in through an insecure window.

The till and its content were stolen from inside.

The cash drawers from two tills were also stolen from Mole Country Stores on Brookside, Dale Road North in Darley Dale.

Offenders forced front door to the store and carried out an untidy search, sometime between 10.20pm and 10.40pm on Monday, October 24.

Following the thefts, officers are urging businesses to ensure that their cash registers are emptied before closing and that their premises are properly locked and secured, with the alarms activated.

The policing team are also encouraging residents living close to businesses to remain vigilant and to report any suspiciously activity to police straight away to help to stop a crime from happening.

Anyone with information about the above crimes is asked to contact PCSO Anthony Boswell on 101, quoting the occurrence number stated above.

To report a crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
