People across the Dales are being invited to try a whole host of sporting activities at the Derbyshire Village Games
The event is taking place at Carsington Water on Saturday, June 8, to celebrate a Summer of Sport.
The action runs from 10am to 2pm and entry to most of the activities is free of charge.
Partners including Derbyshire Village Games and Derbyshire Dales District Council have organised a great day out for all the family, with fun activities including archery, Jiu-Jitsu, a fun run, football, cycling, golf, inflatables, barbecue and a host of other sport and craft activities.
Local sports clubs are supporting the event, encouraging adults, children and families to try out a range of sports and other activities while providing information about the regular sessions they run across the district.
It follows last year’s fantastic Derbyshire Village Games celebration of the London Olympics and Paralympics at Severn Trent Water’s Carsington attraction, when more than 1,000 people enjoyed an action-packed fun day out.
Outgoing Chairman of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Communities Committee, Cllr Mrs Carol Walker said: “In Olympics year our Village Games team made the Carsington celebration even bigger and better than the very successful 2011 event.
“Now, with help from the many local sports clubs and providers who showcase their talents, we’re aiming to progress again. It really is a great day out for all the family and well worth a visit.”
