Charity day for jubilee

A FAMOUS face will be making a big entry to a jubilee celebration.

Ross Davenport will open a Diamond Jubilee event hosted by Indigo furniture this Saturday at Matlock Rugby Club, in Cromford Meadows.

Ross, a Belper swimmer who is part of Team GB for the 2012 Olympics, will arrive on the day in a Bedford Coach.

The coach, owned by Peter Holland, of Matlock, was used to transport the Queen Mother at the Queen’s Silver Jubilee parade.

He said: “The coach has a really fantastic history in the royal family, and was even specially customised with a compartment in the back for the Queen Mother’s corgies.”

The event takes place between 2pm and 6pm and all proceeds from it will go to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The party will be a patriotic celebration of all things British, including fish and chips and Maypole dancing.
