SHOPPERS may come across some furry faces when out in Matlock today.

Volunteers from The Phoenix Children’s Foundation are on the streets of the town today accompanied by miniature Shetland ponies.

The charity helps provide disabled and severely ill children throughout the UK with vital equipment and therapeutic activities.

Sheena Corcoran is collecting for The Phoenix Children’s Foundation with nine–year–old pony Tia.

She said: “She is a petting pony, we use her for children with disabilities.

“We take the ponies to schools, care homes, residential homes – anywhere we are invited really.

“We do have some riding ponies as well.”
