Young business brains campaigning for a cinema in Matlock had a chance to put their ideas to a community leader.

Gregor Macgregor, chairman on Save the Pavilion Group, was so impressed with the Highfields pupils appeal - when it was launched last month – he arranged to speak to the teenagers about their plans.

Cinema developers have looked at converting the Pav, in Matlock Bath, in the past but so far nobody has managed to come up with a viable business proposal.

Mr Macgregor said: “The students have established there is a demand for a cinema.

“I wanted to help them put together a business plan to try and show if a cinema was viable.”

Pupil Danielle Spencer, said: “We finish the project in two weeks and we have gathered a petition of five A4 sheets of paper in favour of a cinema. We hope someone will carry on the campaign now.”
