Provided by Derbyshire Health United (DHU), the service delivers out-of-hours care for more than a million patients and was assessed in February by a team that included two CQC inspectors, a GP, a GP practice manager, an advanced nurse practitioner and an expert-by-experience.

The inspectors observed patients being treated with respect and kindness whilst their dignity and confidentiality was maintained. The report highlights that patients experienced care that was delivered by dedicated and caring staff. The CQC spoke with both patients and carers who said that staff displayed a kind and caring attitude.

Lindsey Wallis, Chief Executive of DHU, said: “This report is a strong reflection of the dedication and commitment of our staff to ensuring that patients benefit from the highest quality of care when their GP practices are closed.

“The inspectors highlighted the high levels of satisfaction of patients in our services and in the standard of care provided.”
