A CLUB has launched in Matlock following a major refurbishment project.
The Conservative Club will be open to members from tomorrow, at the revamped venue in Dale Road.
The club closed in 2009 but following a make-over, which has cost around £40,000, it is back in business with new seating, bar, a games room and snooker tables.
Committee member David Fern said it had been a big project but he was delighted with the results.
He added: “It looks superb.
“The interior has all be refurbished and fully decorated. It looks very stylish.”
The club will be open in the evenings from Wednesday to Saturday and at lunch times on Saturday and Sunday but may open more if there is a demand.
Anyone wishing to join can call in to the club and pick up a membership form.
Mr Fern added: “We are looking to create an establishment for the more discerning customer.
“A lot of places in Matlock seem to be for younger people and middle-aged people don’t feel like there is anywhere for them to go. We will welcome all ages.”
