BUDDING chefs have been honing their skills at a new school cookery club.

Pupils at Lea Primary have been learning about healthy eating thanks to a team of dedicated parents and support from Sainsbury’s in Matlock.

Guests from the supermarket came along to the class on Monday to see the youngsters making vegetables spring rolls.

The store is sponsoring a monthly cooking class and providing ingredients.

Parent Amanda Parker, who has been helping lead the sessions, said: “We are really keen for it to not be just a cooking club but would really like for it to be a good food club with the pupils learning about nutrition and gaining an understanding of healthy eating.”

The classes will focus on vegetables, fruit, eggs and baking.

Next week youngsters will be making a fruit crumble.
