Councillor dies at 67

ONE of Derbyshire Dales District Council’s senior councillors has died after a short illness, aged 67.

Cllr Janet Goodison, who chaired one of the District Council’s key policy committees, died in Chesterfield Royal Hospital at the weekend.

First elected to the authority in 1991, she went on to become chairman of the District Council’s community and environment committee, Wirksworth Community Sports and Leisure Centre joint committee, the licensing committee and the Northern community forum, and played an important role in outside bodies, including being chairman of the Board of Dales Housing.

She was also one of the district council’s representatives on the Peak District National Park Authority and vice-chairman of Derbyshire Sport.
