Cyclists living in Lea and Holloway are being urged to keep their bikes safe following a spate of recent thefts.
A total of 14 bicycles have been stolen from sheds and garages in the last few months and police are reminding
residents of steps they can take to keep their cycle safe:
Don’t leave your bike on view
Make sure you lock it in a shed or garage with obscured windows so thieves can’t look inside
Buy a substantial padlock to secure your shed
Install a fixed post that your bike can be locked to
Consider marking your bike with Smartwater or a similar product so that if it is stolen and recovered, it can be returned to you.
Officers are writing to residents to offer them crime prevention advice.
Anyone with information about the thefts should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
