Police were called to the incident at about 11am after receiving reports of a man shouting in the street.

At interview, the defendant, of Burlow Road, admitted he had consumed alcohol and had lashed out because he had fallen out with his ex-girlfriend on the phone.

Prosecutor John Cooper said: “He kicked a wall and hit slate tiles while having a tantrum. He received a cut on his hand.” The court heard he did have a number of previous convictions.

Karina Lyon, defending, said her client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

Chairman of the bench Neil Broadbent sentenced Seddon to a six-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £65 compensation, £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
