Hathersage and Tideswell police launch crime crackdown

PCSO Anthony Boswell and PCSO Ian Phipps visited the Ladies Christian Fellowship at Saint Barnabas Church in Bradwell on Wednesday, July 2.

The officers spoke to the group about the role of the Safer Neighbourhood team within their local community and also offered advice about the simple steps that can be taken to increase their personal and home security.

This includes ensuring that windows and doors are properly secure before leaving the property or going to bed, making sure that valuable items are kept out of view and handbags are zipped or fastened and not left unattended when out and about.

PCSO Anthony Boswell from the Hathersage and Tideswell Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Community visits like this are a great way for us to chat to local people about keeping safe and further protecting themselves from opportunists.

“We spoke to the group about our role in the community and the ways that they can increase their personal and home security by following steps such as ensuring that house and car keys are removed from locks and from view of windows.

“Other advice includes considering leaving a light on or using timers if you are going out after dark.”
