Police investigate fatal road crash

Police are appealing for information after a woman died when the car she was driving left the road and collided with a tree.

At approximately 9pm on Monday, May 5, a collision occurred on Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, close to the Sandpiper Hotel.

A grey Citroen C3 carrying three people left the road, went through a metal railing and collided with a tree.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two male passengers also sustained injuries and were taken to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.

One of the men suffered serious injuries.

It is not believed that any other vehicle was involved.

Any witnesses are asked to call Derbyshire police on 101.
