Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard in June how Dale Talby, 31, of Purbeck Avenue, Loundsley Green, Chesterfield, visited his ex-partner’s new flat and attacked her.

Prosecuting solicitor Angela Hadfield said Talby and his partner have been in an on-off violent relationship.

She added that Talby had a row with his partner at her new home and punched her to the face.

Talby, who has previous convictions including matters involving violence, pleaded guilty to assault after the incident on May 24.

Robert Sowter, defending, said the relationship is volatile and Talby has alcohol problems. In sentencing on June 18, Talby was given 10 weeks’ custody suspended for 18 months, a restraining order until June 17, 2019, and was ordered to pay £50 compensation, an £80 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
