A WOMAN who has been stopping traffic for 30 years was honoured at a special assembly last week.

Daphne Redfern is the long-serving lollipop lady at Cromford C of E Primary School.

She has helped children cross the road in rain, sleet and snow, and was honoured with a handmade card signed by pupils on Wednesday.

Headteacher Liz Foster said: “Daphne is always there, no matter what the weather, to see children across the road safely.

“She attends all events at the school and remembers every child at the school at Christmas.”

School staff and pupils also presented Daphne with a bouquet, while the school association gave her a gift.
