fashion show: Cancer Research UK’s Wirksworth branch is putting on a fashion show at Masson Mills Shopping Village on Thursday, May 5, at 7.30pm. There will be a raffle and discounts will be offered to shoppers on the night. Tickets are £2 from Masson Mills and on the door.

piano recital: Australian pianist Jayson Gillham is playing a concert at Highfields School on Friday, May 6, at 7.30pm. The concert will include pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Debussy and Brahms. Tickets cost £10.

Charity dance: A barn dance in support of Derby Mountain Rescue Team and international charity New Futures Nepal takes place on Saturday, May 7, at Darley Abbey Village Hall. The night has been organised by the Rotary Club of Derby Daybreak. Tickets cost £15 and are available on 01159 308480.

wall building: Spaces are still available on dry stone walling courses at the National Stone Centre, in Middleton by Wirksworth, over the summer.
