A council incentive is offering Dales businesses the chance to get a grant if they employ an apprentice.

Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service is running a scheme whereby firms in the area can apply for an Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) worth up to £1,500 for each apprentice taken on who is under the age of 25.

Businesses that are eligible for the grant will be those that employ fewer than 50 employees and haven’t employed an apprentice in the last 12 months.

The AGE grant, which applies to apprentices aged between 16 and 24 years old, focuses on small businesses. Those interested in pursuing the grant can call Carol Howe on 01246 201687 or email carol.howe@derbyshire.gov.uk for more information.

The Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service is the largest provider of training courses for adults across the council with 23 main centre and more than 80 outreach centre.
