Diamond couples invited to party

Diamond Dales couples are being invited to contact the Queen’s representative.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, William Tucker, is inviting couples celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary in 2012 to contact him.

As part of Her Majesty’s Jubilee Tour of the United Kingdom, The Queen is to make a visit to Derbyshire 13th June, 2012.

During that visit The Queen will attend a reception which up to 18 couples from Derbyshire celebrating their diamond wedding anniversaries will be invited to attend.

Mr Tucker said: “I have no idea how many couples in Derbyshire are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary this year but there is an opportunity here to make it rather special for some that are doing so.”

Those wishing to be considered are asked to send a copy of their wedding certificate, together with a covering letter, to Diamond Jubilee, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Town Hall, Matlock, DE4 3NN.

Any couples interested in taking part is encouraged to contact Debra Heaton, secretary to the lieutenancy, by calling 01629 761126 or emailing debra.heaton@derbyshiredales.gov.uk.
