A doctor is pushing himself to the limit by taking part in a Peak District marathon.

John Snowden, a consultant haematologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, will take part in Derbyshire’s White Peak Marathon on May 19 to raise money for the cancer and bone marrow transplant services he works in.

This will be his third marathon, meaning he will have run a total of 78.6 miles for the ‘Run & Raise’ campaign for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, which aims to encourage members of the public to take part in runs to raise funds.

Money raised will go towards the £1.6million the charity needs to raise this year to fund cancer research, treatment, and care.

John, 46, from Sheffield, was inspired to raise money for the cancer charity after a longstanding colleague at the hospital sadly died of cancer.
