Drama promotes recycling

School children will soon learn the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling rubbish through the medium of drama.

Gibber theatre company have developed a play which explores the various attitudes to rubbish and hopes to educate pupils on the ways they can cut down on their own waste.

The play, which is funded by Derbyshire County Council, will be touring schools in Derbyshire until the end of March and will provide after-performance workshops for children to get involved with.

Cllr John Allsop, cabinet member for technology and recycling, said: “It’s a dynamic and very entertaining way of encouraging pupils to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.”

Schools also have the chance to bid for a share of a £1,500 grant to go towards their own environmental projects.
