Drugs dog unleashed

A DRUG sniffer dog visited pubs in Matlock, Matlock Bath, Darley Dale and Wirksworth on Friday evening.

Passive drugs dog Fred and his handler from Nottinghamshire Police joined officers from Derbyshire Constabulary during the operation in which they visited seven watering holes.

Several people were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act but no one was found to be in possession of any illegal substances. Sergeant Nick Reason, who is in charge of the Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in the area, said: “We carried out this operation as part of our commitment to keeping our local pubs safe and enjoyable for everyone.”
