Easy way to save council cash

Concerning the recent article regarding turning off street lights, part of the objective in turning off the lights is to save £400,000 in energy costs.

Approximately£100,000 could be save every year if Derbyshire County Council would stop awarding their employees long service awards which last year totalled over £90,000. In 2011 this figure exceeded £100,000, over the last five years the amount spent has exceeded £500,000.
