Pupil April is elected

BELPER School pupil April Lucy Jordan has been elected to the Derbyshire Youth Council.

It comes after more than 26,000 youngsters cast their votes to decide the line-up of the council.

They chose which of the 210 candidate hopefuls would take up a seat on the youth council, including selected the Belper sixth-former.

There were 56 seats up for grabs and the successful candidates will be youth council members for the next two years. The youth will represent secondary schools, special schools, 11 to 19 colleges, support centres and children in care.

Also on the school is Duffield’s Ecclesbourne School pupil Hugh Raymond Wood

Holbrook Centre for Autism will rotate its representatives.
