FORMER Derbyshire MP Edwina Currie may be scheduled to appear on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here after about a week into the series.

Mrs Currie has been hotly-tipped as a late entry to join the current contestants after it was reported in media circles during the weekend that she and X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden were joining the celebrity line-up.

The 68-year-old has previously appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, Hell’s Kitchen, Wife Swap, Come Dine With Me and Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes.

Contestants in the show which started on Sunday evening, on November 16, include Michael Buerk, presenter Melanie Sykes, footballer Jimmy Bullard, model-singer Natalie Forde, Corrie actor Craig Charles, reality TV’s Kendra Wilkinson, rapper Tinchy Stryder, Superbike champ Carl Fogarty, ‘Allo ‘Allo!’s Vicki Michelle and TOWIE’s Gemma Collins in the jungle.

Mrs Currie lives in the High Peak area with strong links to Tideswell.
