You may have noticed an extra bit of a buzz about Matlock this week – all because television cameras are in town.

The new Sky One comedy drama Starlings is filming all over the Dales at the moment.

And the crew dropped in on Matlock Town this week, where the clubs officials, supporters and stewards were more than happy to act as extras for the show.

Starlings will follow the lives of the Starlings family, a typical working class brood living in a detached house in Matlock.

It stars Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey and Lesley Sharp of Scott and Bailey.

The programme is being produced by Steve Coogan’s production company Baby Cow, and has been written by Matt King, most famous as Super Hans from Channel 4’s Peep Show.

The programme is expected to air on Sky One in March next year.
