There will be something for all the family to enjoy at Furness Vale Field Day, which takes place this weekend.

Saturday’s event will feature a variety of stalls and entertainment, and runs from noon until 6pm.

Organised by the Community Organising Green Space (COGS) group, the event raises money for a project to improve a field off Yeardsley Lane in Furness Vale, which is on a slope and has poor drainage.

The field will then become a sporting facility that can be used all year round.

A mini zoo, children’s rides and entertainment, village games, food stalls, a beer tent and a local history tent are just some of the attractions on offer at the free event.

There will also be live music from The Lost Sound, Reus, Two Trick Pony and 13Luger, a dog show starting at 3pm, and the COGS information tent will have a 3D model on display, showing the future plans for the field.

It is hoped work to transform the field, which has been awarded QE2 status meaning it is protected forever, can start soon after Saturday’s Field Day event.
