Fit kids awarded

JUNIOR school youngsters proved they were fighting fit to land themselves a certificate following a successful project.

The year three pupils from Wirksworth Juniors completed the ‘Five 60’ programme, launched by NHS Derbyshire to encourage people to eat five portions of fruit or veg a day, as well as take part in at least 60 minutes exercise.

The children enjoyed an afternoon of exercise and activities, as well as cooking lessons, while some attended an after-school club, bringing along their parents in order for them to learn more.

Cllr Judith Twigg, from Derbyshire Dales District Council, was at the school this week to award the certificates to those youngsters who had taken part.
