More than 100 big-hearted heroes have helped raise about £10,000 for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice after they completed the Derbyshire Times and Pelican Cycles Flagg Challenge’s 10 and 50 mile rides.
The super-fit cyclists wound their way round the Peak District from Ashgate Hospice to Baslow, Ashford-in-the-Water, Sheldon, Flagg, Monyash, Birchover, Stanton-in-the-Peak, Rowsley and back again on Sunday, July 28.
Fundraising, sponsored riders included those doing it in honour of lost loved ones or for relatives and friends being treated at the hospice, at Old Brampton.
Celebrities from the ITV soap Emmerdale, Rik Makarem and Jamie Shelton, also took on the challenge and helped set the riders off on their way on what proved to be a wonderful day for a fantastic charity.
The event has boosted the Derbyshire Times’ on-going 25 in 25 Appeal to raise £25,000 for the hospice during its anniversary year.
The Derbyshire Times captured entrants on camera and has produced a superb hall of fame carousel for our readers.
