Four children have been killed in a fire at a house in Hulland Ward.
Fire crews from Belper, Ashbourne and Wirsworth were called to a severe blaze at a semi-detatched house on Highfield Road at 11.30pm on Monday night, January 24.
The family home was significantly damaged and as a result of the fire, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service announced at 9am this morning that four young children had died in the blaze.
They were two boys, aged nine and four, and two girls aged six and two.
A 45-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation also.
A joint investigation has been launched by Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to find out the cause of the fire, which is at yet unknown.
A fire officer will be available for comment at the incident at 11am this morning.
