Eleven members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team are to take part in the Four Inns Walk next month as part of the team’s £50,000 for Fifty Years Service appeal.
Established in 1957, the walk, on April 5, is a competitive event organised by the Derbyshire Scouts Council and covers 65 kilometres of the roughest and toughest moorlands in the Peak District.
In 1964, three scouts lost their lives while taking part in the walk, which led to the formation of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation and the Buxton team, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary by aiming to raise £50,000 for a new control vehicle.
The walk is one of a number of events taking place throughout the year to add to the total raised.
To support the team, see the website at www.buxton mountainrescue.org.uk or send a cheque, made payable to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, to 8a Hallsteads, Dove Holes, Buxton, Derbyshire, SK17 8BJ.
You can also follow the team members as they take part in the walk through the website.
