Dales residents are being invited to try their hand at new sports activities this weekend.

On Sunday, July 28, Derbyshire Dales District Council is urging people to head down to Wirksworth Leisure Centre for a free open day.

Running from 11am to 2pm, the day features great opportunities to try new activities, including climbing, badminton with Wirksworth Badminton Club, kickboxing, hockey with Matlock Baileans, Jiu Jitsu and trampolining.

Visitors to the leisure centre in Hannage Way, off Water Lane in Wirksworth, can also try out fitness classes, soft play and much more.

Chairman of the council’s Communities Committee, Cllr Jennifer Bower, said: “We’re proud of the Dales’ status as one of the healthiest places to live in the whole of the UK, and this open day is part of our continuing commitment to encourage local people to keep fit and give new activities a go.”
