Girls chance to light up town

Organisers of the Victorian weekend have joined forces with the Mercury to give two lucky youngsters the chance to help light up the town.

The winners of the competition are four-year-old Aimee Ludlam, of Darley Dale, who was nominated by her grandma Sheila.

Sheila said: “I think Aimee deserves a treat and she would love to see Santa.”

Charlotte Allsopp, 9, of Darley Dale was also selected.

The girls will ride in the coach along with Kylie and Father Christmas before helping switch the lights on Saturday, December 3 at 4.45pm.

Charlotte said: “I’ve never seen them turned on before, I bet they look fantastic.

“I’d like to see everyone happy in the park, on rides and in the markets.

She added: “I’m looking forward to writing about it in our school newspaper.”
