As a former shop worker, I notice that there is no reference in the article by Nick Frame to those who reluctantly would have to give up their only free day to provide the services that some people require.
We are living at a time when the family is being fragmented; and this is partly due to the fact that there seems little opportunity for the family to spend time together.
Round the clock trading would only fragment it further and that would be to the nations detriment. We need a day free from the commercial rat race that dominates our life. Sunday trading will not benefit us, only frustrate us further.
We need to be reminded that there is more to life than economics.
Jesus said, ‘A man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.’ We need time to reflect, rest and worship our Creator, because one day we all will be accountable to Him.
We therefore need to spend Sunday as He intended; that will truly be for our benefit and those who belong to us.
