Volunteers inspired by the Olympic Games can now apply for grants to help them organise sporting events this summer.
Derbyshire’s Community Sports Trust has grants of up to £250 available for organisations, clubs and councils across the County.
Hayley Lever, CST Chief Officer, said: “This funding will help bring the spirit of the 2012 Games to community playing fields this summer.
“The grant can help pay for equipment, medals, marketing and other resources that volunteers need.”
The grants are part of a nationwide Community Games project funded through the government’s Social Action Fund.
Grants were made available on Tuesday May 1 and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
“This is a great opportunity for us to support local volunteers who have been inspired by London 2012 and have sporty plans for their summer carnivals, galas, fun runs and events,” said Hayley Lever.
In addition to funding, volunteers can download support material including scorecards and certificates. To make an application visit www.communitysportstrust.co.uk.
