Matlock Trefoil Guild took to water for their July meeting.

The group chartered the John Varley narrowboat for a two-hour trip along the Chesterfield Canal from Tapton Lock to Hollingwood.

Crewed by volunteers from the Chesterfield Canal Trust they glided along at a leisurely pace, enjoying the scenery.

The banks were full of wild flowers and a lookout was kept for kingfisher and water voles.

A cream tea at the Hollingwood Lock cafe rounded off an enjoyable day.

Matlock Trefoil Guild meet on the third Thursday of each month, usually at Dale Road Methodist Church Hall in Darley Dale, at 7.30pm. The Trefoil Guild is open to ex-members of the Guide Movement.
