People with learning disabilities and their families and carers are being urged to go along to a workshop near them to help shape future support in Derbyshire.
The workshops are being held as part of Derbyshire County Council’s Community Lives programme which was set up in 2011.
The aim of Community Lives is to give people with learning disabilities more choice and control over their lives by increasing educational, leisure and employment opportunities as well as more involvement in the local community.
Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for adult care, Cllr Charles Jones, said: “When we launched Community Lives we held a series of workshops and more than 300 people with learning disabilities and their families and carers came along to have their say.
“This is another opportunity for people to find out more about a number of issues and discuss what is important to them.
“We would encourage as many people as possible to go along to the workshops in their area and take part in shaping the services of the future.”
Dales residents can attend workshops at the Joseph Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale, on February 14 between 10am and noon. And at the Waterside Centre, Waterside Road, Ashbourne, on March 15 between 1pm and 3pm.
The dates, times and venues for all the workshops are also available by visiting the county council’s website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/communitylives
