HGV concerns raised

Residents have voiced concerns over lorries breaching road weight limits in a Dales village.

People in Brassington are worried about the breach of 7.5 ton weight limits through the village by heavy goods vehicles over recent weeks at a selection of times throughout the day.

The problem is causing additional concern due to long term road works taking place in the village.

Police have visited haulage firms in an an effort to encourage HGV drivers not to use Brassington as a short cut.

Officers will now be actively monitoring the situation with view to enforcement.

Vehicles over 7.5 tons are only allowed to enter the village for specific authorised reasons, such as planned delivery to premises within the limits.
