Weather forecasters are warning people about an ice risk in Derbyshire as sub-zero temperatures are expected to take over the region tonight.

The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow’ weather warning for ice, as temperatures will fall below freezing on Wednesday night (February 24).

There will also be a risk of scattered wintry showers falling on the sub zero surfaces.

The warning says: “This leads to a risk of icy patches on untreated roads and pavements on Thursday morning.

“Please be aware of the risk of some locally difficult driving conditions, and some low level travel disruption.”

The warning is valid from 8pm Wednesday until 9am on Thursday.
